Who is Special Compass?

Special Compass is a non-profit group that provides life-changing experiences for the “differently abled” by promoting inclusion in the community using athletic events and building opportunities for independent living.

Special Compass was founded by Jim Sayih after his son Michael was unable to participate in mainstream athletics due to cerebral palsy.

Special Compass’s Mission

Special Compass helps children and families with disabilities navigate life through education, sports, and housing, independently through inclusion.

They provide them with opportunities to participate fully in a wide range of community and athletic activities, enhancing their confidence, self-esteem, and sense of purpose.

Special Compass’s Vision

Special Compass envisions a world in which those with disabilities have the opportunity to participate fully in a wide range of community and athletic activities, enhancing their confidence and independence. They envision them engaging in the workplace, sports and recreation and family environments, making decisions and contributing to society, including volunteering.
