Who is Liza James?
For the past 15 years, Beth James has repeatedly heard of all the things her daughter Liza would be unable to do. In 2004, Beth and her three kids were in a serious car crash in Oklahoma after colliding with two drag-racing drivers. While Beth and her two other children were largely unharmed, Liza took a much larger hit and suffered a traumatic brain injury, leaving her permanently nonverbal and unable to walk. Now, she can’t eat, bathe, or move around without assistance. But Beth wouldn’t let the “cant‘s” define her daughter’s future

Humans express love in a million different ways; for Beth it has taken the form of running, swimming, and biking with Liza. Liza loves the motion and interaction with others during each event. The joy Liza gets from participating with her mom in each outing is evident in her smile and excitement..
“Even with the traumatic brain injury, Liza is very healthy and happy. So healthy it’s scary,” Beth said.
